Summer FAQ

What will my camper be doing during the week?

Each week of MakeInspires campers offers 2-4 subjects for campers to choose. Each week’s schedule is hand crafted to try to match each camper to their individual interests. If your camper has interest in a subject not offered during the week they are attending OR no interest was indicated, makerspace managers will place your camper into the most appropriate subject group.

Do campers go outside?

Chappaqua: Campers have supervised access to the Bell Middle School playground during the lunch hour on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (weather permitting).

NYC and Mamaroneck: Due to the high-traffic environment and limited access to outdoor space, campers will go outside for short, tightly supervised segments during select lessons or activities.

Is early drop-off or extended day available?

Extended-day may be available on request - there is a minimum of 2 students in order to run an extended-day activity. Please contact your local makerspace manager to inquire about options.

There is currently no early drop-off option.

Are there any holidays when camp is closed?

MakeInspires Summer Camps remain open during all summer holidays. If your family has a scheduling conflict, please contact your local makerspace manager code to prorate the week.

Are campers grouped by age, grade, or interest area?

Campers are first grouped by their selected subject or theme and then further sorted by age when possible. If age-based grouping is not possible due to enrollment, instructors provide differentiated instruction and extra support to ensure all campers are appropriately challenged and supported.

Are there discounts for siblings?

Sibling discounts are already included into our registration pricing. Each sibling receives an additional 10% off your order.

Are there discounts for siblings?

Campers should bring:

  • A refillable water bottle (filtered water is available on-site)

  • A nut-free snack (and lunch if staying for a full day)

  • A change of clothes (recommended for campers ages 5–6 or those prone to spills/accidents)

Lunch Options: MakeInspires offers pizza for lunch each day, included with camp. If your child does not like pizza or has dietary restrictions, they are welcome to bring their own nut-free lunch.
